01

Where we stand today

Straight from lunivate.com — the position the market is comparing against.

01 Positioning

"Custom software and consulting, built by our own team of engineers and designers."

02 Three lines

Build — custom web and mobile, end to end.
Advise — architecture, strategy, roadmaps.
Staff — our own engineers on your projects.

03 The differentiator

We run on our own platform — BusinessOS and MIOSA — plus agentic delivery with human engineer review.

04 Sales motion

Founder-led. No forms, no funnel, no sales team. Text, call or email the founder directly. Austin, Texas.

05 Proof

Healthcare, regenerative medicine, staffing, investing, marketing. The Health Institute, ClinicIQ, Better Stem, ProTrade Staffing, DiversyFund, Team Brandit.

06 Pricing

Nothing published. A buyer has to ask to learn anything — while every segment below has at least one competitor showing a number.

02

The competitive map

Segment by segment, with the pricing each one actually publishes.

US AI agencies selling to SMBs

The AI Agency USALas VegasAI audit, voice AI, apps & CRM, Shopifynot published
Hestur AISan FranciscoWorkflow automation, voice agents, RAG, fixed scopecustom quote
What it means The bottom of this market has collapsed to $299–$1,500 setup plus a few hundred a month. That is a different product from a multi-system build and should not set our price. The firms actually competing for our buyer publish nothing and sell on speed and fixed scope instead.

Custom software firms in Austin

the local rate card

Clutch's Austin rankings carry Kingsmen Digital Ventures, Simform, Designli, Twin Sun, BRIGHTSCOUT, Rubico, Empat, Vention, Iron Forge, Ancient, Syberry, Austin Custom Software and Praxent. Only one profile gave up full data.

FirmRateProject rangeMix
Clarity Ventures$100–$149/hr$5k–$150k40% e-commerce, 25% web, 10% custom software
Praxentnot publishednot publishedAI agents for financial services; $2B/day reconciliation case study
What it means The Austin field that publishes rates sits at $100–$149/hr and is mostly e-commerce and web. Almost none lead with AI agents or owned infrastructure. Our differentiation is real — but it is invisible, because we are not in the directories buyers actually browse.

Nearshore and offshore into the US

the labor floor

Tecla publishes all-inclusive hourly averages: Junior $28/hr, Mid $48/hr, Senior $58/hr. Data roles run $24–$42. You pay only after you hire.

What it means A senior nearshore engineer is roughly half the Austin published rate. Any proposal that includes staff augmentation is compared against $48–$58/hr — not against a US salary. The Staff line needs a stated answer: the platform included, US accountability, the review process.

AI for healthcare clinics

sharpest competition

Assort Health runs an AI voice agent for the healthcare front desk and call centers — scheduling, triage and routing, patient intake, after-hours coverage, proactive outreach, medication refill, referral automation, payment resolution. Specialty focus on orthopedics, dermatology, ophthalmology and women's health.

What it means This is the direct threat to ClinicIQ and our Health Institute work. Assort is a product company attacking one workflow — the phone — with a verticalized agent. We sell the whole platform. Both can win, but only if our clinic pitch leads with a named workflow outcome instead of "AI platform for clinics."

Workflow automation agencies

commodity layer

Zapier Automation Agency prices per automation: Basic $20/zap for 2–3 steps with 7-day email support; Professional $49/zap for multi-step with conditional logic and 30-day support. Pay after delivery.

What it means At $20–$49 per automation this is a commodity service layer. It is a lead source or a partner channel, not a competitor.

Fractional CTO and advisory

closest to Advise

Continuum (Matt Turley) is a solo operator aimed explicitly at non-technical founders: $500–$10,000/mo, month to month, weekly 1:1 plus async availability. Three further firms confirmed their scope but not their pricing.

What it means This is the closest match to our Advise line and the band is wide and public. A founder can buy a fractional CTO for $500/mo. Advisory only holds its price when it is bundled to a build.

Productized, fixed-price AI agent builds

the trust play

Techpotions sells fixed-price agents from $2,497 — scope includes evals, tool-call guardrails, cost caps, fallbacks and traces. Target: businesses that want a customer-facing agent, not a demo.

What it means Fixed price plus a published floor is the strongest trust signal in this market — it kills the buyer's main fear, an open-ended AI invoice. We publish nothing.

Website + lead gen for finance and healthcare

our adjacency

PatientGain sells HIPAA-compliant healthcare marketing at $199–$5,000/mo. Paladin, Snappy Kraken, FMG Suite and Indigo all publish pricing for financial-advisor marketing. DoctorLogic and Cardinal Digital run healthcare performance marketing; Buzzbox Media publishes the cost benchmarks.

What it means We already sell into this adjacency — DiversyFund, Better Stem, Miami Stem Cell — and the incumbents publish monthly retainers. A published site-plus-marketing-systems retainer is a proven, low-friction entry offer in exactly our verticals.

Every rung above is a first purchase a buyer can make without a conversation. Our smallest visible unit is an entire project — which means the only way to discover what we cost is to ask us, and the only way to start small is not to start.

04

Six things this tells us

The strategic read, in order of how much it should change what we do.

01

No pricing is now the outlier, not the safe choice

Every adjacent segment has at least one firm publishing a number — and the ones publishing are the ones getting found. A buyer with three tabs open sees everyone's number and none of ours.

02

There is a missing rung below "a project"

Techpotions at $2,497 fixed and Alpenglow at $1,200 + $250/mo prove the pattern: a small, fixed, low-risk first purchase that leads into the real engagement. Our smallest visible unit today is an entire project.

03

Staff is priced against nearshore, not against Austin

At $58/hr all-in for a senior nearshore engineer, the Staff line needs an explicit reason to command more — the platform, the review process, or US-based accountability. Rate alone loses.

04

Healthcare needs a workflow, not a platform

Assort Health is attacking the clinic phone with a verticalized voice agent. ClinicIQ should lead with a named outcome — appointments booked, calls answered, hours saved — not a platform description.

05

Directory absence is a gap, not a channel

We are not in the Austin developer rankings that buyers browse, while shops with a fraction of our portfolio are. That is discovery we are simply not receiving.

06

BusinessOS is the unclaimed position

Nobody in this study sells "your own open-source business OS, plus the team to customize it." That story is unique in the entire set — and it is the one segment the research did not finish.

05

What is still open

The research run hit its budget ceiling before finishing. These are the holes, not the conclusions.

Unfinished — highest value first

  • Business-OS platforms — CRM, projects, knowledge and agents in one product. No results returned. This is where our unique position sits, so it is the first thing to re-run.
  • Developer marketplaces and staffing platforms — Toptal, Gun.io, A.Team, Arc.dev. No results returned.
  • Austin firms — only Clarity Ventures is complete. Rates, headcount and positioning are missing for Rubico, BRIGHTSCOUT, Syberry, Austin Custom Software, Twin Sun, Iron Forge and Praxent; HQ is unverified for several.
  • Nearshore — only Tecla's rate card was captured; the rest of the segment returned names only.
  • Healthcare AI — five of six to eight companies captured; pricing and funding largely unpublished.
  • Fractional CTO — three firms with pricing, three with scope only.
  • Productized agents — six named, two with full package prices.
